ABLI organizes closed-door fireside chat with UK ICO Commissioner

ABLI is delighted to organize a closed-door fireside chat with John Edwards, Commissioner of the UK Information Commissioner’s Office on the back of TechLaw.Fest 2025, bringing together about 30 professionals in the data and digital economy space in Singapore and beyond for a candid exchange of views.

Participants discussed with Commissioner Edwards topics such as trust as a central tenet for data, progress made in relation to the Global Cross-border Privacy Rules (CBPR) Forum, the evolving role of data protection officers, UK’s latest Data (Use and Access) Act 2025, etc. Raymund Liboro, former Commissioner of the National Privacy Commission of the Philippines, also shared his thoughts on how to be “data resilient”.

ABLI took the opportunity to share its work on trusted data corridor in ASEAN and its template intragroup agreement for transfer of personal data in ASEAN.

We are grateful for the generosity of the Commissioner and for the active participation of all attendees, and look forward to more occasions like this to bring like-minded partners together.
