ABLI speaks at Luohan Academy’s Privacy and Data Governance Conference

On 19 and 20 March 2019, ABLI’s Dr Clarisse Girot was one of the key speakers at the Luohan Academy’s Privacy and Data Governance conference, held in Hangzhou, China. Dr Girot was joined by, among others, Professor Jean Tirole, Nobel Laureate in Economic Sciences (2014) and James Dempsey, Executive Director of the Berkeley Center for Law and Technology.

Dr Girot is the Project Lead of ABLI’s Data Privacy project and the editor of ABLI’s Regulation of Cross-Border Transfers of Personal Data in Asia (2018).

The Luhan Academy was formed in Hangzhou on 6 June 2018 by the Alibaba Group to collectively explore and shape the consensus regarding how to embrace the social and economic transformations brought by digital technology.1

The Academy’s Academic Committee features six Nobel Laureates, as well as renowned economists, social scientists, tech pioneers and professors from Harvard, Princeton, Berkeley, Columbia, MIT, NYU and China’s Tsinghua University.2
