[Webinar] New Indonesia Data Protection Law – Key Provisions to Know and How It May Affect Businesses

After several years in the making, Indonesia’s Parliament finally ratified the Personal Data Protection Bill as law in September 2022, making it the first comprehensive law in Indonesia dedicated to personal data protection. The law will impact both local and international organisations that process the personal data of Indonesian citizens.

Following warm reception to a forward-looking session held in January 2022 on the then upcoming Indonesian personal data protection law, the Asian Business Law Institute returns this time to examine the actual legislation and its implications.

The webinar is expected to discuss, among others, the following areas:

  • Key provisions of the personal data protection law, such as its consent requirements and cross-border data transfer regime
  • Impact of the law on businesses that have dealings with the personal data of Indonesian clients and of further underlying clients
  • Enforcement and regulatory authorities designated under the law, and their likely attitude towards enforcement of the law
  • Gap analysis between the law and its peers such as EU’s GDPR

Danny Kobrata, Partner Corporate & Technology of K&K Advocates, returns as speaker for this session.

Date: 8 February 2023
