[In-person] Practice, Academia and Law Reform – Weaving the Threads Together
Overview
Over the course of his career, Dr Andrew Godwin (Associate Professor of Melbourne Law School) has spent 15 years in private practice (10 of which were spent as a foreign lawyer with an international firm in Shanghai, China), 15 years in academia and 3.5 years in law reform where he recently completed a term as Special Counsel and Acting General Counsel of the Australian Law Reform Commission.
In this talk, Andrew will share his perspective on a range of issues based on his diverse experience across the legal industry, including how lawyers today can best maximise career opportunities, why they should make the most use of the various continuing professional development programmes available, and how they can adapt to contemporary challenges confronting the legal profession.
Andrew will also discuss the role of bodies such as ABLI where he is an Advisory Board member in promoting the convergence of business laws and strengthening Singapore’s status as a regional and global legal hub.
