On Friday, 5 April 2019, Mark Fisher (Deputy Executive Director) and Dr Clarisse Girot (Research Fellow) gave a presentation to French corporate heads, their in-house and external counsel, among others, at the French Embassy in Singapore (Ambassade de France à Singapour).
ABLI discussed its vision and mission, with reference to its projects on data privacy and the recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments.

The presentation was spearheaded by Sriram Chakravarthi (Senior Director & Chief Legal Counsel) of ABLI’s parent company, the Singapore Academy of Law, who gave a presentation on SAL’s study on governing law and jurisdictional choices in cross-border transactions. Mr Chakravarthi was joined by Wong Li Tein (Deputy Chief Executive) of SAL.
ABLI and SAL were joined by Mark Wong (Director) of Duane Morris & Selvam LLP and Herlina Lo Blondel (Regional Legal Manager) of Hermès Middle East South Asia Pte Ltd who discussed, respectively, the use of Singapore as a legal hub for French companies when investing in Asia and practical issues faced by in-house counsel operating in the region.
