The ASEAN Law Conference

ABLI is proud to be the knowledge partner sponsor of the ASEAN Law Association's ASEAN Law Conference which is being hosted in Singapore immediately after the Emergence Conference 2018 from 26 to 28 July 2018.

The ASEAN Law Association

The ASEAN Law Association (“ALA”) was formed in 1979 by the legal communities in ASEAN to foster better understanding and cooperation. ALA brings together under one roof all the different branches of the legal profession of ASEAN Member States – judges, law academics, law practitioners and government lawyers.

Each ALA General Assembly is hosted by the ALA National Committee of an ASEAN Member State on a rotational basis and takes place every three years. From 25 to 28 July 2018, ALA (Singapore) will host the 13th ALA General Assembly and The ASEAN Law Conference.

The ASEAN Law Conference

The theme of The ASEAN Law Conference is “The Power of ONE: Unlocking Opportunities in ASEAN through Law”. ALA’s vision for the Conference is to create and curate a world-class legal conference focused on thought-leadership issues pertaining to ASEAN, specifically regarding cross-border commercial and legal opportunities and challenges in the ASEAN Economic Community (“AEC”). In line with this vision, luminaries from ASEAN Member States and beyond have been invited to speak at the Conference on topics including the opportunities and challenges in the AEC, free trade agreements and bilateral investment agreements in ASEAN, competition law, disruptive technologies and financial integration. More than 500 legal professionals hailing from the ASEAN Member States and beyond are expected to attend the Conference. For the Singapore legal profession, the Conference has been accredited with 14 CPD Public Points.

Registration for the Conference is available online through the Conference website at Register from now till 31 May 2018 to enjoy early bird registration rates.

The cost of the ASEAN Law Conference is generally USD$1,000 for non-ALA members and USD$450 for ALA members.  However, if you are speaking at the Emergence Conference 2018 or you are attending the Emergence Conference 2018 and are a full-time academic or researcher, a member of the judiciary or a government official or officer, the ALA invites you to attend the ASEAN Law Conference at the ALA members rate (even if you are not a member of the ALA).  If you would like to attend the ASEAN Law Conference and are entitled to the reduced rate, please contact us at and we will provide you with the Discount Code to use when registering for the ASEAN Law Conference.
