Dr Colin Ong QC appointed to CICC's International Commercial Expert Committee
The Asian Business Law Institute (ABLI) is delighted to learn that Dr Colin Ong QC, a contributor to our Foreign Judgments Project, has been appointed by the Supreme People’s Court of the People's Republic of China to the International Commercial Expert Committee serving the China International Commercial Court (CICC).
Dr Colin Ong QC is a member of the Brunei, English and Singapore Bars, and holds the distinction of being the first ASEAN national practitioner lawyer to have been elected a Master of the Bench of the Inner Temple as well as to have been appointed English Queen’s Counsel. He is also among the first few Chartered Arbitrators in the ASEAN region.
Regularly ranked by major legal rankings as a thought leader or global elite practitioner in the field of international arbitration, Dr Ong has acted as counsel in many arbitrations governed under civil law as well as under common law applying most major institutional rules as well as UNCITRAL rules. He has also sat as arbitrator in many similar arbitrations, and has taught advocacy and arbitration courses across countries throughout the years.
As the cross-border enforceability of judgments is crucial to any international commercial court that looks to attract and serve litigants, we are heartened in the knowledge that Dr Ong's involvement in our Foreign Judgments Project may come handy to his future engagement on this CICC International Commercial Expert Committee. Congratulations Dr Ong!
